Linda Eyman
 
A career singer since the early 1980’s, Linda Eyman is Director of
The Toronto Singing Studio, founded in August 2007.

Linda’s many roles and responsibilities within the Studio include maintaining a large private singing student roster, teaching several group singing classes and being Music Director of the Celebration Choir and the Summer Singers.

In the past two years, Linda has created the new Musical Theatre Program for Adults, which features a hugely talented Ensemble troupe and a 10-week ‘triple threat’ training course.

In addition, Linda was Music Director of Vivace Vox, an eclectic and very popular chamber choir and Vocal Mosaic, a non-auditioned adult choir from 2007 - 2017.

Before opening her own Studio, Linda taught for ten years at The Royal Conservatory of Music (1997-2007) where she also served as Head, Vocal & Choral Department, RCM Community School for two terms.

At the RCM, her exceptional record of success typified by her creative, energetic and positive approach, can be tracked through the development of the Singing From Scratch program for adult beginners; as founding music director of three RCM choirs: Vox Continental, RCM Lyric Singers and RCM Silver Singers; and as founding  creative & music director for RCM music theatre programs:  Summer Music Theatre Workshop Camps for Teens (The Company) and Children (The Young Company); and Music Theatre Workshop for Adults -- Beginner Level and The Ensemble – often writing original plays to provide a unique and ensemble-designed forum for the players to develop and perform within.

Linda is a member of the Ontario Registered Teachers’ Association (ORMTA), Central Toronto Branch.

Linda has been a regular vocal coach for the Drama Department of the University of Toronto at Scarborough and has provided vocal training for film and television.  She also is a singing workshop clinician and festival and competition adjudicator.  She has been a featured guest on CBC Radio’s Fresh Air, CBC-TV’s Living In Toronto and TVOntario’s More To Life. Linda has been interviewed and featured in articles for The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star and Toronto Life magazine.

Before turning her career to teaching, Linda spent over a decade singing professionally as a soloist in opera, operetta, oratorio, concert and chamber music.

Linda’s primary musical training was received from:

  • Opera Division, University of Toronto.  Postgraduate Opera Performance Program  1984-85
  • Opera Division, Wilfrid Laurier University, Postgraduate Opera Training Program  1980-82
  • Honours Bachelor of Arts - Fine Art and Music, University of Guelph  1978
  • Vocal coaching and role study in Italy, Austria and Canada with leading vocal coaches.
  • Numerous opera workshops (1977-1988) in Canada.
